Allison received her BS and MS from the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington.

She taught as a Lecturer at the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering for three years. Following that, she taught classes and redesigned curriculum at the University of Arizona as a Senior Lecturer for three years. Allison is currently a tenured professor at Edmonds College where she is head of the Computer Science Department.
